Quiet books for a tired season

1 min read
A small stack of worn books beside a window

Not every season calls for a plot that demands everything of you. Some seasons call for books that feel like a hand on your back.

What “quiet” means to me

I look for writing that is gentle but not empty — books about ordinary days, small kindnesses, people paying attention. They ask little and give a lot.

I keep one on the nightstand and one in my bag. Three pages count. Three pages are a whole act of coming back to yourself.

A book you can read three pages of, on a hard day, is worth more than a masterpiece you never open.
